Words fail me

Smileroid and I are sharing an intensive course the next few weeks, alternating each day. After comparing schedules last Friday, it turned out that we were both scheduled to teach it this Friday in the computer’s scheduling system (an Excel sheet), but on the roster neither of us were scheduled to teach it that day. I asked Secretary from Hell about it and she said that it was Old Secretary’s responsibility. I asked Old Secretary about on Monday and she said that she’d have to ask Bossman when he came. We're still waiting to hear.

So, perhaps we’ll both be teaching it or he will be, because I sure as hell am not going to!

I’m looking forward to Young Secretary’s return from holiday next week so that scheduling hell will end. Or at least be reduced from 'extreme idiocy' to 'normal chaos'.

More scheduling fun

I walked into class P last Thursday and the students informed me that they only had two lessons on Friday. Thinking that was odd because they usually have three, I decided to probe a bit. I asked them which lessons they had and they told me. My lesson was not on their list, but I had been asked on Wednesday by Bossman to substitute for another teacher on Friday. I then inquired as to who had told them that, and they said Computer Teacher. She had been informed on Wednesday that I’d be teaching the class on Friday because she was involved in part of the conversation with BM that day. I gave them an assignment to do and went to the office to find out what was going on (for their sake).

MrT: ‘Old Secretary, who is teaching class P tomorrow?
* OS looks at the roster *
OS: ‘Good French Teacher and Nice Spanish Teacher.’
MrT: ‘Bossman asked me to do it yesterday,’
OS: ‘Oh? Did he? Let me look in the computer’
MrT: ‘Okay’
OS: ‘It says that you and NST are, and that GFT is teaching class R.’
MrT: ‘Class R ended last week.’
OS: ‘Then maybe it should be class P?’
MrT: ‘I don’t know. All I know is that BM asked me to teach it for the first period and that’s what I’m going to do.’
OS: ‘So you’ll be here early then?’
MrT: ‘Yes. What about GFT and NST? Actually, I don’t really care. I don’t handle scheduling.’

I walked out. I couldn’t be arsed.

Two can play that game

Yesterday, Fun Colleague called in ill for today so that the office would have plenty of time to find substitutes for her classes. A couple of them were redistributed to other teachers, and I escaped being asked. However, this morning Bossman asked me to teach her first evening class and told me I was his last resort and that there was nobody else available to do it.

Today was my short day (only morning classes), so that’d mean I have to wait many hours and go back, mainly because I just happen to be in the office when he finally discovered that he hadn’t reassigned a class. I told him that I had dinner plans for this evening and wouldn’t be able to do it, and he said, ‘Okay, I’ll call Clown then.’

My dinner plans? A quiet evening at home eating chicken and rice, drinking a bottle of wine and a watching a DVD.

I'm still here,

however, 'life' has been happening. 'Normal' service will resume later this week.

London

Regarding the happenings in London today, there's nothing I can say that hasn't been said. My deepest sympathy goes out to those who have lost loved ones in a city that is very dear to my heart.

Thankfully, my loved ones are safe.

Someone's a bit uptight

I engaged Pompous Ponce in a short political conversation yesterday evening on something we don't quite see eye to eye on (the subject is not important), and it turned out quite differently than he had expected.

(towards the end of the conversation)

PP: 'I don't know why you started this conversation.'
MrT: 'If you listened to me, you'd find out that I agree with you'.
PP: 'Then why are we arguing?'
MrT: 'I'm not arguing, you are. I agree with you'.
PP: 'Oh, okay.'

Conversation ended.

Advice: Give your adversaries what they want, you'll really surprise them.

Welcome

I've just discovered that my blog has (briefly) been mentioned in the Socialist Review! Welcome to any readers who happen to come across it from that website.
